MAPIC: Tell us a little about Palais des Thés
Dounia Ougazzaden: Palais des Thés is a 30-year-old Parisian premium retail tea brand founded by Francois-Xavier Delmas, one of the best tea sommeliers in the world. The origin of tea defines a key part of the drinking experience, that is why he travels the world to bring customers exceptional harvests, sourced directly and so cutting out middle men. The strong partnerships that we maintain with our growers has led to an infinite variety of flavours and emotions. We operate over 100 stores worldwide in countries like France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Norway and Denmark.

MAPIC: What are your plans for the next 12 months?
Dounia Ougazzaden: Our goal is to enter several European countries through a master franchise format: Spain, Switzerland, Italy, Poland and Finland. Tea is a booming market and we have managed to double our turnover in the last five years. Many people are working from home and thus have more time to enjoy a cup of tea, they are more aware of their health, what they consume and how products are sourced and are increasingly trying to reduce their caffeine intake. Consequently, all of our stores boast double digit growth every year.
