The refurbishment of Piazza Garibaldi in Naples, designed by the French Architect Dominique Perrault, is going to be one of the most important urban regeneration projects over the next few years in Italy.
The refurbishment program has already created a new pedestrian gallery connecting the square with the adjoining subway stop and railway station. The restyling works created 25 new shops totalling 6,700 sq m which opened in September 2015. The programme is continuing with the construction of an underground parking lot and the complete refurbishment the square in front of the station.
Together with the transformation of the outside of the Napoli Centrale station, inside the main building the ground and first floors of the Palazzo Alto skyscraper will be converted into a new food court on two levels, that will serve both the station and the city.
