Ahead of Expo 2015, Milano Centrale railway station has been transformed by the creation of new retail galleries, increasing both the quality and quantity of the offer. 10 new stores totaling 500 sq m have been created in the historical Galleria delle Carrozze. Transparent and curved architectural elements echo the large barrel vault of the Galleria with a contemporary touch. And new outdoor spaces have been designed for restaurants within the Galleria.
This will be followed by the 2,500-sq m refurbishment of a building on via Sammartini to host food services; the creation of a premium fashion area facing the platforms and the revamping of the Magazzini Raccordati area consisting of two wings on either side of the station, with 130 new stores totaling 40,000 sq m.
This new renovation plan has radically transformed the area into a refined living area that will also serve as a new gateway to the city.
